The FCR cookbook will be available for $5.00. You may purchase your cookbook during both lunches, beginning on Monday, May 12th through Thursday, May 15th. Come visit our stand and check out great gator recipes.

Hey, have you ever wanted to be a member of a club who has competed on the National Level? How about doing volunteer work, giving back to our community, or raising money to host special events. Do you aspire to be a leader? Then we have the club for you SKILLS U.S.A. Come to an organizational meeting for the 2008 - 2009 school year, Monday, May 12th right after school in room C-104. We need to put together an officer team for next year. Meeting should last 30 minutes, that is if you are there right away. Oh and by the way we will vote on our officer team the following Monday, May 19th. Do you want to be a Champion? SKILLS U.S.A. is the club for you.

Don't forget to support your fellow talented gators at Sirius, the North Star talent show, this Thursday, May 8th, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. It'll be the best dollar you've ever spent.....we're "sirius" about it.

The NorthStar Fishing Club will meet on Wednesday, May 7th at 3:05 in room B100. Remember, we are trying to double our membership, so bring a friend! Seniors...gather your money so you can buy your Senior BBQ ticket and t-shirt! Sales begin on Monday, May 5. BBQ tickets are $1 and t-shirts start at $7. We'll be selling during lunch May 5-12. Don't miss out!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting on Tuesday at 7:15 am. All students and staff are welcome.
Attention all students taking AP EXAMS! There is a mandatory test prep session that you must attend on Tuesday, April 29th. You may attend 8th period on the 29th or right after school at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. You *must* attend one of the 2 sessions so that you are ready to take the exams in May. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Price in the main office.

The Day of Silence is an annual event held to bring attention to anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination in schools. Students and teachers nationwide are observing the day in silence to echo the silence that LGBT students and allies face everyday. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. Then do your part to make North Star free of bullying, harassment and discrimination.

Archery practice for the state tournament is from 4:30-5:30 on both Wed and Thurs. this week. Hopefully, many of you can attend both practice sessions.
Prom tickets will be sold April 18 - 24 in the Bayou during lunch and after school. Tickets are $15 each. Make sure you have a permenant ID, your fines paid, and the registration form filled out before you buy. No tickets will be sold the day before Prom or at the door.
MTV Made will be here on Today starting at 3:15. Students will need to form a line up outside of the auditorium. We will open the doors at 3:10 p.m. and close them at 3:30 p.m. Any student arriving after 3:30 will be turned away. Students will take a number as they enter the auditorium. The interviews will be conducted on a first come first serve basis. NO NON-NORTH STAR students will be admitted. All students must be wearing their North Star student ID to get in. We have been told the interviews will last between 2-5 minutes.

This year's Post Prom theme is "Gator Idol" Pre-purchase your tickets and sign up to sing in Post Prom's 1st "Gator Idol." There will also be a "celebrity" judges panel. Natalie Lips has met the requirements to enter the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. Natalie took the PSAT with 1.5 million students nationwide. Of these 50,000 scored high enough for this honor and will enter the next phase of The National Merit Scholarship Program. Way to go, Natalie!
Students please come and support the North Star Baseball team tonight as we honor our eight seniors for senior night. Game times are 5:00 & 7:00 at Sherman field at 6th and South. We will have a short ceremony between games. So come help cheer on the team to victory over PiusX

Gators get ready to show your School Spirit next week. We will be kicking off Spirit Week Monday with dress like a Toddler, Tuesday will be Formal/Dress up day, Wednesday will be Fashion Disaster, Thursday Class color day with Freshman: in White, Sophomores: in Purple, Juniors: in Black, and Seniors: in Yellow, and Friday we will close out the week with School Spirit Day.
Key Club will be meeting Monday after school in room A213. The money raised for the Backpack Extra Mile needs to be brought, collected, and given to Mr. Lenz by Tuesday, April 22nd. So, please bring your money to the meeting if possible. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Harassment of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered students, those perceived to be GLBT and their allies is prevalent. 81% of students report hearing anti-GLBT remarks often in school. Such remarks lead to an unwelcoming climate, which affects student achievement. Do your part to make LNS a safe and welcoming place. National Day of Silence is next week. BULLETIN - TUESDAY - APRIL 15
The National Day of Silence brings attention to name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. This
year’s event will be held in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was\ killed Feb. 12
by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Hundreds of thousands of
students will come together to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem harassment.

For any student or staff member with an interest in horses, an informal equine discussion group meets will take place during the last part of College Club on the third Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 15 TODAY at 2:30 in C113. The meeting will feature horse magazines and plans for a horse field trip. Everyone is welcome. Senior Photo will be taken this Wednesday, 4th period in the practice gym. You need to report to your 4th period have them take attendance and then will released to go to the practice gym.

Nominations for Prom royalty will be taken on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Bayou.
Schools should be safe places for all students. The annual anti-bullying protest Day of Silence is approaching. GSA is selling $10 t-shirts for the event. Order one at lunch today, from a GSA member or from Ms. Halsey in A104 and support safe schools.
April 15th is right around the corner. Your taxes are due and so are your overdue library books. Return the overdue books to Ms. Fries or Ms. Hiatt in the media center on April 15 & 16, and have your overdue fines waived. Books dropped in the drop boxes will not have fines waived. Don't know if you have an overdue book? Stop by the media center and ask.
The last day for sign up for the COMPASS test(SCC admissions test) on Tuesday April 15th at North Star is today in the counseling center

The Gator Fishing Club will meet next Wednesday, April 9th in B100 after school. We will be starting to gear-up for fishing season this spring, so come prepared to learn practice skills and share ideas. If you have questions see Mr. Schaber in A117 before Wednesday.

A special College Club workshop for students planning to take the ACT on Saturday, April 12 or June 14 has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 2:00 in C-113, the computer lab off the media center. Students will receive information about the ACT, get tips on how to have a successful test experience, and sample ACT questions. Juniors planning to take the ACT next year are also welcome. The workshop will last approximately 30 minutes plus time for questions and answers.

The North Star boy's golf team set individual and team varsity records over spring break at the Grand Island Invitational on Friday. John Tatum set a Gator individual record shooting 76. The team also placed 8th out of 15 teams, setting a team record of 319. Other scores included Teven Cuddeford 80, Shawn Sommers 81, Andrew Srb 82, and Taylor Rosenbaum 87. Way to go Gator golfers!
