- Key Club

- Students must sign an honor code that stresses ethics and morals in academics

- Designing soup bowls for Weslyan University’s Empty Bowls Soup Lunch
that will raise funds for the Lincoln Food Bank’s Backpack Program
- Ninth Grade Teams
- Designate “Star Students of the Week” who demonstrate safe, responsible,
respectful learning
- Student Parent Program
- Continue emphasis of character in child rearing
- Football Team
- Initiated a character training program called “Keys to Success” that discusses and
practices how character looks on the field.
- They focus on a particular word
each week as a focus on character training on and off the field.
- Advocacy Program
- Teachers meet with advocates and discuss issues related to good character
- Dr. Becker
- Awards ice cream gift certificates to students who show positive character
- Women’s Lit. Class
- Barbie Workshop – Learning activity that emphasizes that focus should be on
character rather than body
- French Club
- Has been involved in supply drives for military personnel serving overseas
- Has raised funds for the Lincoln Food Bank’s Backpack Program
- Choice Program
- Support groups that assist students in making good character decisions
- Change for Change Program
- Raised money for “Invisible Children” in Uganda
- Writing Classes
- Discussions/Topics for writing essays relating to ethics and choices

| MAJOR GOALS |
- The development of character is an essential part of the K-12 curriculum. The core traits and skills are integrated into the various curriculum areas and emphasized by all teachers at all levels.
- The student goals for the Character Education Program are:
- Selects and uses age appropriate behavior
- Selects and uses age-appropriate coping skills
- Demonstrates confidence in self
- Interacts with others appropriately
- The Character Education Program major goals are further defined by performance objectives and core traits. All students work toward mastery of these objectives.
