School-wide PBiS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is a system of supports that include proactive strategies, for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.
We are creating a positive school climate when students are recognized for doing the right thing. PBIS encourages that we try to acknowledge positive behaviors four times more often than correcting inappropriate behavior.
It can be easy to see when a student is engaging in an undesired behavior, such as blurting out in class. It is often more difficult to understand WHY they are engaging in this behavior.
