Parents of LNS Student(s)

Thanks for being part of the North Star Community! We are excited to see your student(s)!

Arrival

Students will be allowed to enter the hallways at 7:30am to promote social distancing. Door #1 will be open early for students with 1st hour classes.

Below are the entry points for students starting their day with 2nd hour class:

Door #1 (Front Entrance)

Door #23 (Northeast Corner)

Door #3 (Southeast Corner)

Face Coverings Reminder

Students are expected to wear their face coverings. (LNS will provide 2 cloth face coverings to all students).

Fees

If paying by credit card for student fees such as an activity pass, yearbook, chromebook assurance coverage or locker, payment must be made on ParentVUE through MySchoolBucks before the first day of school. If payment is sent to school with the student, it must be in the form of cash or check made out to LNS.

School Photos

Lifetouch will be at school on August 12, 13, 14. We will work to have students do make up photos on these dates during their classes. Payment for pictures is paid to LifeTouch online at mylifetouch.com using Picture Day ID: EVTZDRT6N . If you do not order online, EXACT payment of cash or check made to Lifetouch must be made on picture day.

50% Plan Schedule for Days of Attendance

Students were divided into two groups by last name alphabetically. Generally, students with last names A-K are in Group A. Students with last names L-Z are in Group B. While dividing the groups, we made every attempt to make sure students in the same family with different last names were grouped with their family members (siblings). More information to come in the next couple of days to confirm your group. All Zoom-in students will receive communication about Resource pick-up on Friday, August 7.

  • Have all the materials needed for class with you
  • Stay engaged in the lesson
  • Eat breakfast
  • Have your chromebook charged and ready to go each day.

Materials Provided

  • Instructions of how to connect to daily zoom class periods (see above)

Chromebooks/Hot Spot Information

Chromebooks

Please come with your chromebook charged and ready to go each day for both in person and zoom in learning.

All 9th graders will be getting a new chromebook on August 12th during a designated class.  Please make sure to bring your chromebook from middle school to check in.

All 10-12th graders new to the district have a few options to pick up their chromebook. The technology is a necessity, as you will need this to zoom in to your classes on the days you are not in the building.

  • August 11th  – 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Door #10 (West side of building)
  • August 12th – 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Enter through Door #1 (staff will direct you)

Hot Spots

Reminder:  Please complete the internet access survey (from the district office)

A survey was emailed out to you earlier in the week regarding technology resources needed to successfully attend school remotely.  If you haven’t already, please complete the following survey for each student in your household participating in remote learning.

If it is determined your family will need assistance obtaining a Mobile hotspot after completing the survey, you will receive the device on August 11th with the other materials at North Star.  Please come to Door #10 for pick-up between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or you may pick it up on your first day of school.

Lunch Schedule

All lunches are during our 6th period courses based on the teacher of the class.  The lunch schedule is subject to change due to numbers.  The schedule will be posted around the building as well as made available for students in all their classes.  We have done our best to even out the numbers of students from each grade throughout all the lunches.  We do not change student schedules based on requests of wanting to have lunch with a peer.

Lunch will be 50% capacity. LNS will have tables with four chairs around instead of the usual eight.  Lunch will consist of prepackaged items for students to grab or be served.  Students have the option of eating outside.  Also after students are finished with their lunch the halls and media center will be open to spread out.

LNS custodial crews are taking extra measures to keep the building clean and safe. Classrooms will have hand sanitizer and spraying and wiping down tables, desks and door handles will be part of the classroom routine.

We are excited to see the students and start a great year!

Go Gators!
