The CHOICES Program is a Good Opportunity for Students

CHOICES is a two semester program facilitated by counselors from the Child Guidance Center.  Each week a student attends one individual therapeutic session and one group session.  Topics covered in these sessions include family, peer and school issues; drug and alcohol use and abuse; wellness and healthy lifestyles; positive coping sills; and decision-making skills.  Youth in grades 9-12 can receive up to two credits each semester for participation in the program.

Youth in the program will miss some class time each week.  Students are required to make up any missed work.  Group sessions will be planned so youth do not miss the same class each week.  Students will know in advance the time of the group session so they can plan for their absence with their teachers.  Every effort will be made to rotate class periods each week for the individual sessions.  If a youth is seriously behind in a class, the CHOICES staff should be notified.  If a student is scheduled to take a quiz/test or prepare for either, please feel free to notify CHOICES staff as well.

Students in Choices can earn two credits each semester by meeting the following requirements:

  1. Attend one Lifestyle Assessment Group session weekly
  1. Attend one individual session with Child Guidance therapist weekly.
