What is National Honor Society?
- A national organization established to recognize outstanding high school students
- Seeks to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, service, leadership and character
What do LNS National Honor Society members do?
- Give back to the community through volunteer work
- Provide tutoring in The Writing Center on Tuesdays after school
- Plan and put on the Student & Faculty Volleyball Tournament each year as a fundraiser for the Al Bock Scholarship Fund
- Complete projects to recognize students and staff for their hard work
What are the application requirements?
- Have and maintain a 3.6+ cumulative GPA for 5 semesters (grades 9-11)
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 5 graded academic classes during your junior
- Complete rigorous academic coursework
- Be actively involved in three or more extracurricular activities
- Be involved in service on behalf of others in the community
- Be a student of exceptional character
What should I be doing now to prepare?
- Continue to take challenging classes and working hard in the classroom
- Get involved in at least three extracurricular activities and maintain active membership
- Volunteer your time by helping out in your community
- Be a positive leader in the classroom and in activities to maintain high character
When do I apply?
- Invitations are sent out to juniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher typically in February
- The application is due at the end of March
- If your application is accepted, you are inducted at the beginning of May and expected to attend meetings/events during your senior year
